Kripparrian gives us his thoughts on the upcoming Diablo III Expansion. In case you didn't know, Blizzard has pulled developers from Titan to get them working on the D3 expansion.
Edge Online has posted a review of their time spent with the console version (PS3, PS4 is also planned) of Diablo III. To see the full article, check out the Diablo III PS3 hands-on article over at Edge Online. Here is a quote from the article:
"A 15-minute demo isn’t the best way to experience Diablo III, admittedly. The long game lies in the gear management, in kitting out your chosen character with absurdly powerful weapons and armour in order to cut an effortless swathe through the demonic hordes and pick up even more powerful loot. What is clear from the demo is that Blizzard’s made a considerable effort to retool skill and item management for a controller and a big TV screen.
The pause screen is home to radial menus for speedy selection of gear and attacks, but tweaks to the game design are focused on having players spend as little time in such menus as possible. There will be fewer but better loot drops than were found in last year’s PC version of the game, for instance. Stand over an item and you’ll be able to see immediately whether it’s worth your time, and you can either equip, collect or discard it with a quick press of a face button.
The decision to minimise time spent in menus chimes well with a game that, thanks to free left-stick movement and that right-stick dodge, feels a little pacier than the original.
…It’s far from a complete picture, then, but it does feel like Diablo III has been cut down a little for consoles. It certainly feels more like an action game than before – a genre for which PS3 players are hardly starved. And we can only imagine that the subset of PC players who want to play a lighter, pacier version of a game they’ve already played is rather small, even if they can do it from their sofa."
There is currently no exact release date for the PlayStation 3 version of Diablo III (we know it will be released sometime this year though) but there is information that the console version will have tweaked drop rates and no auction house.
Blizzard Entertainment is shifting 70 developers from it's next-generation MMO Titan to other teams which include the Diablo III expansion. According to VentureBeat, Blizzard has stated that Titan needs more core development and that it will take at least another 3 years (2016) for the game to be complete.
Here is a statement from Blizzard about Titan:
We've always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception. We've come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game. We're using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes. Note that we haven't announced any dates for the MMO.
It looks like the Diablo III expansion may not be that far away now, and with all these new developers working on it, maybe it can be the next LoD? Guess we will have to wait and see at BlizzConn 2013. This year BlizzCon 2013 will take place at the Anaheim Convention Center on November 8-9.

Vaneras from the official Diablo III forums asked the fanbase what an endless dungeon should be like:
Blizzard Tracker: May 25, 2013
Endless dungeons is a topic that have been brought up quite a few times now, although I must admit I have never seen the idea combined with the suggestion of old Diablo bosses reappearing in them :-)
Endless dungeons is an idea that there are many different takes on and we have seen quite a few variations on the idea being posted on these forums and elsewhere. This idea was actually also being discussed in a recent live stream interview with Travis Day and Wyatt Cheng on Archon the Wizard's twitch stream:
Does the idea of endless dungeon come up in those conversations? Travis: Yes, we talk about that a lot. It’s funny, with endless dungeon, it’s… it’s something people will heatedly debate what that’s supposed to mean. I have my own take, but I’m not sure what everyone wants from it. My take is that players want a measuring stick, to see how far you can go, like they reached level 200 or something. But I think the real purpose is that players just want to play for a long time without repeating the same levels over and over again. They don’t want just more Alkaizer runs.
So, to get a little more clarification on this idea, what exactly is it you have in mind when you think about an Endless Dungeon? What is it that you would like to see or find in such a dungeon? And also, what kind of gameplay and goals would you want and aim for if you could play in an endless dungeon?
Over at the official forums, Grimiku has clarified that 3rd-party mods like DarkD3 are not allowed in Diablo III. Here is the full post:
Blizzard Tracker: May 25, 2013
As we have mentioned many times before, 3rd-party mods are not allowed in conjunction with Diablo III, period. We do not support them, and choosing to use them may lead to penalties taken against your account, up-to and including permanent account closure.
As such, I would highly suggest you check out this blog post for further information.
Additionally, posting links to these mods is against the forum's Code of Conduct, and is not permitted on the forums.
The world of Sanctuary can be a dark and ominous place filled with terrors unseen and nightmares manifested to life. But amidst the turmoil, there are some who dare to stand up against the continuous onslaughts from the Burning Hells, and it takes dedicated individuals to do justice to recreating those heroes in the flesh.
This week’s community spotlight shines on cosplayer SakuraFlame and her detailed cosplay of a level 60 Diablo III Wizard, as well as her friend and compatriot Kotori's Demon Hunter cosplay. Each of them constructed their own costumes, and Anstellos and Photogeny were responsible for many of their fine photos.
SakuraFlame was also kind enough to share an assortment of behind-the-scenes photos chronicling the creation of her ornate cosplay. You can find a few glimpses below of some of the intense preparation and hard work that goes into creating a truly epic cosplay.
SakuraFlame and Kotori group up to take on photographer Anstellos.
Kotori also recently joined SakuraFlame for an atmospheric photoshoot with impressive results!

Last Wednesday, game designers Wyatt Cheng and Travis Day joined Archon the Wizard in his anniversary stream on Twitch to chat about the game, address some popular community topics, and answer questions live from viewers.
In case you weren't able to tune in on May 15, you can still catch the full discussion below. There's about 4 hours worth of content, so (in the words of Deckard Cain)...stay awhile and listen.
Note: These videos may not work on mobile devices.
(Warning: videos contain mature language.)
Thank you to Archon the Wizard for hosting this chat, and to everyone who stopped by to watch and ask questions!
Community Commentary: Philanthropy Station. Blizzard Tracker: May 24, 2013
This week's Community Commentary shout-out goes to runit3 and his awesome project known as the "Philanthropy Station."
Designed to give new players and veteran players a way to connect, the Philanthropy Station is all about helping others out. The way the project works is pretty simple: veteran players volunteer their services in one of several categories -- including Hardcore, Ubers MP10 (or requested MP), Paragon leveling MP10 (or requested MP), power leveling, questing, and build advice and game mechanics -- and then other players sign up to matched with verified volunteers according to the type of gameplay or assistance they're looking for.
There's an application process as well as a few rules for players to follow (all in place to provide the best experience possible for everyone involved), so if you're interested in supporting this project or think you might benefit from a little philanthropy, be sure to head over to the official forums to learn more!
Know of any other similar community-run projects, services, or groups that focus on new player help? Share a link in the comments or send an email to lylirra@blizzard.com.
From the dark world of Sanctuary comes the tale of a hero's birth. Haunted by his harrowing past, a wanted man named Jacob finds his destiny at the foot of a mountain shattered by the legendary sword of Tyrael, the archangel of Justice.
Diablo III 1.0.8+ Wizard Sustained Archon Guide submitted by eLINminator.
I've recently successfully transitioned into Sustained Archon mode, here are some tips that I found , some of these tips might seem obvious, but it wasn't to me, hopefully it'll make some else' transition to archon easier.
First, Sustained Archon(or Perma Archon) as the name implies, means you stay in Archon mode for most of run, at least 90%. Please do not mistake this with random build with Archon in it. Some people go for hybrid CM build and put in Archon as temporary boost, which I think is weaker. Go either pure CM stunlock build or Sustained Archon. Archon build is End game build, and it's very high-end gear dependent, if you fail to meet the Gear Check, you're better off going back to your old builds rather than forcing Archon, it took me many attempts at re-gearing before I was able to do it.
Pro: Fast efficient build. No other build comes close to the raw efficiency of this build. Great for xp/rare farming. With 1.05 comes monster power, which means even lower gear requirements for entry level Archon users. Con: Not group friendly. You will not be able to Sustain archon because you're not making all the kills. Not saying you wont be effective, but you wont be efficient, which is the main reason for this build. CM builds are much more group friendly.
Gear - This was made possible by dropping OWE - so you need high All Resist and high armor.
Play Style - Smack 'em in the face and try not to die!
Description: This build has some great mobility. the bonus run and attack speed from blazing fists is so much fun. once you get the hang of using dual generators, you'll never want to go back.
The synergy of guardian's path and backlash is awesome. fire chains mobs just kill themselves, and you almost never get frozen!
For the pros out there, try swapping out serenity for dashing strike.
Dual Generators:
I'll explain how i use the dual generators pretty effectively:
I use thunderclap as RMB, and blazing fists as the LMB.
I hold down right mouse (TC) ALL THE TIME. I use it to run/walk around.
Just tap down LMB, (Blazing fists) long enough to get your stacks, then continue to TC. to refresh Blazing fists, you only need to tap down LMB for a split second. it seems to refresh instantly.
Note that my finger almost never lets up from the right mouse button, even while tapping left mouse button. whichever button you hit will override anything already being held down. as soon as you let go of LMB, RMB takes over straight away again.
And that's about that. Tou get used to it pretty quick and it's really effective.
Blizzard has posted a very cool infographic about Diablo III. Blizzard Tracker: May 21, 2013
It's been one hell of a year.
Heroes have risen, angels have fallen, and the mortal realm of Sanctuary has once again been saved from the brink of despair. As Nephalem, your accomplishments are innumerable. You’ve saved a village from the risen dead, laid to rest the tortured soul of a dishonored king, solved the mystery of the Fallen Star, avenged the death of a powerful Horadrim, unlocked the secrets of the Black Soulstone, cast Belial from his throne of deceit, stopped a demonic invasion almost single-handedly, restored Hope, and vanquished the Prime Evil, preserving the sanctity of the High Heavens and ushering in a new age for the world as we know it.
But have you ever wondered how your deeds measure up in the real world? To showcase the strength of the Diablo III community and how awesome you all are, we've put together some interesting statistics.
How many heroes have been created? How many demons have been slaughtered in pursuit of treasure? And just how many times has the Lord of TERROAR Terror been killed? Find out below!
If you'd like to view the infographic in a separate browser, click here.
Blizzard has extended the anniversary buff by one day, so make sure you use it before it expires! Blizzard Tracker: May 21, 2013

For those of you with characters in our other gameplay regions, the buff will be disable on Wednesday, May 22, at 5:00 p.m. Pacific in Asia and on Thursday, May 23, at 12:00 a.m. Pacific in Europe.
Note: We elected to extend the buff by 1 day, so this time frame is bit later than we first communicated. Apologies for any confusion, but yay for another day of demon-slaying buffs! Source
Rubberbanding Fight Continues Despite Blizzard's attempt at fixing rubberbanding in the 1.0.8a patch, it continues to be a problem. Below Lylirra wrote an instructive post about the issue and stated that it is currently being worked on.
Blizzard Tracker: May 21, 2013
Rubberbanding (especially as it relates to movement-based abilities like Whirlwind, Strafe, and Tempest Rush) is an issue that may not always come with a quick-fix. The source of the problem is not always easy to identify, and sometimes it may not always be the same thing for every player. As a result, there will be times where we implement potential fixes which we know will work for some players, but don't know if it'll work for all plays. In other cases, we'll make improvements -- i.e. changes that probably won't stop rubberbanding from happening completely, but should at least help reduce the frequency with which rubberbanding occurs. This was the case for 1.0.8a and with previous hotfixes we've made throughout the year. Again, we know these fixes may not resolve the issue for every player, but they should help reduce the occurrences of rubberbanding, and lessen the effects should rubberbanding occur for most players.
Now the important thing is that we're still working on these issues -- just because we implemented some changes that we hope will make the situation better doesn't mean we've called it day. So, if you're still experiencing rubberbanding, here are a few things you can do.
First, you can try performing the following troubleshooting steps to ensure that external causes are not adding to this issue (this isn't required, but recommended):
If those steps don't help -- or if you've chosen to skip them -- please let us know so we can continue looking into this issue by posting in the Bug Report forum (and be sure to check out this guide on reporting: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4926752662). That's really the best location for those types of reports, as it'll allow our QA representatives to document them and forward them on to our development team for additional review.
(We want your experience in the Diablo III to be as fun as possible, so working on these issues is important to us. That also means we're extremely grateful for any reports receive that can help us troubleshoot -- so thank you to everyone who's already posted!)
BoA Item's Stats Searchable on AH? Blizzard has stated that bind on account items will be searchable in the AH sometime in the future.
Bump. Should at least be able to see the stats (Edit)
We agree, it's a pain in the booty to try to find upgrades for a BoA item on the AH right now. Not a big issue, but still something that'd be a nice QoL change. Just spoke to Wyatt, and this is something that's been tasked to be added (don't have an ETA, though). Source
Buff idea for level 100 paragon Getting to 100 paragon is a rewarding experience, but most people think that it would feel a lot more rewarding if we got some sort of buff or some other perk after reaching 100. A player asked this question on the forums and it looks like Blizzard is interested in the idea, so we may be seeing some sort of buff in the future:
How about a extra buff for paragon 100 huh? Next patch maybe?
Certainly an idea I can pass on. :)
What kind of buff (or other rewards) would you find meaningful? Keep in mind, we'd prefer to not to put players in a position where they'd feel like they have to farm up to p100 or miss out on something critical, so try to form your suggestions around that principle if you can.
When does the anniversary buff end? For those enjoying the buff, enjoy it while it lasts! Looks like it will be ending tommorow at 9 am PDT: It will end at May 22 @ 9:00 a.m. PDT (we'll be posting another reminder tomorrow evening).
New Diabolical Facebook Covers and Twitter Headers Blizzard has posted some Diablo 3 themed facebook covers and twitter headers you can use.
It's been a busy year in Sanctuary. When the risen dead aren't threatening New Tristram and Azmodan's forces aren't relentlessly pouring into Bastion's Keep, a few (hundred) wasps can always be found keeping travelers company outside Caldeum. Despite these threats, heroes like you have kept a steadfast watch on the forces of the Burning Hells, and your tenacity deserves recognition.
As a salute to the trillions of monsters valiantly vanquished in the past year, we've crafted some new Facebook covers and Twitter headers so that you can celebrate Diablo III's one-year anniversary in style while staying connected with fellow Nephalem outside of Sanctuary.
Hellish anniversaries abound! The Blizzard Music section of our site has been updated to includeDiablo’s 15-year Anniversary album. We think the game's score is just as atmospheric and haunting now as when it was released (back when our computers had a whopping 16 MB of RAM).
Visit the page to read notes from the album's composers, listen to samples of classic Diabloarrangements, and download the album (or individual tracks) through iTunes.
Diablo III will be down for maintenance tonight from 3:00 AM PDT to 11 PDT.
Blizzard Tracker:
We will be performing scheduled game maintenance for Diablo 3 on Tuesday, May 21st. Maintenance will begin at 3:00 AM PDT and is expected to last for 6 hours. During this time Diablo 3 will not be available for play. In addition, many web services may be unavailable.
Auction House Guide Updated, Farming Runs, New Builds, Guides Added, Pages Updated.
Thanks to Blooz for submitting a new Auction House guide which replaced our old outdated one. Head on over to the Diablo III Auction House Guide page to check it out.
As for other pages, there have been quite a few updates and additions to the blog recently, as well as updates to current builds, guides and other pages for 1.0.8.
Diablo III Blog needs your help: If you find any outdated pages that we missed, please contact us so we can update them. It would really help out the site!
After testing extensively, my opinion is RF is viable and better for farming at higher MPs and lower MPs. Using Mantico.
First of all, you need to have at least hatred generation of 9 per sec with Bat Companion activated. High critical chance is recommended. If possible, get a good SOJ and DML with RF CC bonus. Game play is the most important. Don't miss it at the end of this thread.
Grenades * Thinkerer - Shoot 3 grenades dealing 95% dmg each is not the main reason for this skill. The ability to generate 6 Hatred is. Hatred pool is 150 so in theory 8 shots of 3x6 will fill up the pool provided all grenades hit the mob. This should be your secondary weapon. Bola*Bitter Pill - You may also use this skill to regenerate disc with nice dps.
Rapid Fire * Bombardment - This is your main weapon. With 150 hatred pool, you can channel 25 seconds continuously provided there is no break up. 414% dmg and AOE of 8 yards is arguably the most powerful skill currently available to DH. Game play is important. I will explain later.
Blizzard has posted an interesting article summarizing the changes and improvements that Diablo III went through in the past year.
Blizzard Tracker: May 18, 2013
One year ago this week, we launched Diablo III in over 10 languages and 30 countries around the world. Since then, we've made significant improvements to the game, shipping upwards of 15 patches and implementing numerous hotfixes to make your battle against the forces of the Burning Hells that much more epic.
In celebration of Diablo III's anniversary, we wanted to take a look at the road so far -- recapping some of the major changes made to the game since release and providing players quick access to all the latest updates.
(If you haven't played in a while or are new to the realm of Sanctuary, definitely stay a while and listen.)
- PARAGON LEVELS -
When a hero reaches level 60, experience earned from quests, monsters, and massacre bonuses will begin to count toward Paragon levels. There are 100 Paragon levels in total, and each level will reward players with a permanent bonus to Gold Find and Magic Find, as well as core stat increases (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Vitality). For every 10 Paragon levels, players will also earn a new hero portrait border which will display in the in-game party frame. This border will not only become more impressive as you level up, it will also display your Paragon level in any place where your normal hero level is shown.
For more information on Paragon levels, click here or check out the game guide.
- INFERNAL MACHINE -
The Infernal Machine is a device that will allow level 60 players to battle "uber" versions of some of Sanctuary’s most nefarious bosses. While the rewards for defeating these bosses will be great, some assembly is required. Only the most powerful Nephalem can unlock the secrets to building the Infernal Machine, but once forged the device can be used to open portals to special encounters featuring not one, but two bosses which have been augmented from their original versions, both in terms of difficulty and appearance. Defeating each boss pair will provide players with extra items and gold, as well as a chance to find components for a new Legendary: the Hellfire Ring!
For more information about the Infernal Machine event, click here or check out the game guide.
- LEGENDARY ITEM IMPROVEMENTS -
In patch 1.0.4, we made significant changes to Legendary items to make them more powerful, more memorable, and ultimately more fun to use. Through the addition of spell procs, many Legendary items now have a chance to activate rare and unique abilities, such as summoning an angel to fight with you, conjuring an icy projectile, or igniting the very ground you walk on. Legendary items are also far and away more powerful, possessing higher damage and affix values than their predecessors. In addition, many Legendary items have had visual effects added to their original models, giving them a distinct and detailed flair.
For more information about these improvements, click here.
- BRAWLING -
For those who wish to test their mettle against fellow Nephalem, head on over to the Scorched Chapel! This zone can be accessed by speaking with Nek the Brawler in any of the four Act hubs, and supports 2 to 4 players in a Free-For-All format.
Similar to the "Players X" command in Diablo II, Monster Power is a system designed to give players more control over how challenging enemies are in each difficulty. With this system, players can choose to increase the health and damage of monsters according to different "power levels" and in return they'll receive scaling bonuses to experience as well as boosts to Magic Find and Gold Find which will stack above the 300% cap. The option to increase Monster Power is available to all players starting at level 1 in the Quest Selection window, and can be adjusted separately for Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno difficulties.
For more information about Monster Power, click here or check out the game guide.
- MULTIPLAYER IMPROVEMENTS -
In patch 1.0.8, we made several improvements to the multiplayer experience in Diablo III, including a special bonus for multiplayer games that grants +10% Magic Find, Gold Find, and Experience for each additional player in the party, combat alerts for whenever a player is engaged with an Elite monster or treasure goblin, multi-user conversations (a new chat option that allows players to chat privately with up to 98 of their friends), and matchmaking tags for Public Games.
These changes focused on buffing existing social features, making it easier for players to find one another online, and providing bonuses when playing in our cooperative mode.
For more information about these improvements, click here.
- MONSTER DENSITY -
More demons, more fun! As of patch 1.0.8, players in Inferno difficulty at Monster Power 1 and higher will find an increased number of enemies across Acts I, II, and IV. By adjusting density in these areas, all four Acts should now be more comparable in terms of difficulty vs. reward, giving players more options for farming (and more monsters on which to enact their revenge).
