This shot was taken from one of the developer videos. It looks like a druid with a spear! It could also be an old witch doctor concept. Thought they probably would not show a concept in their announcement video of the gameplay. Not sure.
Some other ideas are that this could be a druid/summoner combo, which would be very interesting. Also, it could be a Hunter class. Or even a druid/amazon combo.
But all signs honestly point to druid. Main reason is because if you look at it's helmet, it is a wolf type helmet, and as we know, this is the same type of helmet that druids used in Diablo 2. Any ideas on which class this might be?

Yeah, nice image. I think that that image is only a concept art of the Witch Doctor.
BUT I HOPE that that screenshot is the Druid Character.

You can tell by the spear, it looks just like the spear from D2 Expansion so it has to be a druid, but new graphics comes with new looks so maybe I'm wrong

The picture that is shown on this website is infact the picture of the amazon. I can tell you that because the arreat summit page for d2 has pictures of each character class. When looking at the amazon class you will see the resemblence in that picture and the picture posted here.

the first time a saw this I thought that it was just an in game NPC but looking at it again, as you said the headgear kinda gives a druid"ish" feel... I don't think it's an amazon though coz sadly I dont think they'll be making an amazon class, having there is an option for genders, I don't think that there is a male amazon is there? I think they'll incorporate that in the female barbarian... don't get me wrong Druid and Amazon are my favorite class in D2 and I would still love to have them in D3 although Hunter class is pretty neat also.

I disagree that it's an Amazon (at least based on the Arreat Summit pic). The key feature is the wolf head, which is druid-only. Though if it's a new class it could be anything.

Ok, the image's key items is that that mysterious dark figure has a bear cap and snake on the arm. The armor has a lot of claws around it too. So im guessing druid. its my fav. unit, if its in my game, im totally excited! im excited rigth now jsut about that picture! wooot! druid! the other class i would love for them to include it the paladin!

It has to be the female version of a druid/amazon or druid/assassin type class.
If it was a witch doctor, the mask would be COVERING the face, not sitting on the head.

if you want my opinion its a female (odviously) druid because when it shows the witch doctor on the website standing beside the barb to the left his skin is purple grey kind of coulour and this artwork is definately having a druid like feel to it anyways, being dark and somewhat animal like, not to mention the wolf fur on her head which is an odvvious sign of the druid. and thats all i have to say about that

I really hope that the bow and arrow class makes a comeback although a lot of people complained about its non diversity and a lot of people loved the druid but didn't like how weapons played much of a roll besides on stats so based on that info I'm guessing (hoping as well) that they combined both into a new class probably not actually now that I think about it but I sure hope they have throw-able spears in-game I loved those

I wonder why Blizzard is keeping this so hush-hush. I mean, I can see why from a marketing and sales outlook, but seriously. Why keep us avid fans waiting on what classes we can play as? It's almost a little aggravating.
Still, I want to get a reserve copy. I'm an Uber Fan. I even have the book series starting with the sin war. lol.

Its not necessarily a druid just because of the wolf head.
druids never used spears, so it looks kind of odd to me to be a druid. the person also has a sword. sure, druids could use swords, but most of the time they didnt actually use weapons unless they were werewolf or -bears, in which case you couldnt see the weapons anyways.
i think its some kind of hunter class. it seems to me like a woman... men dont sway their butts like that... (or god knows i hope not).
it actually looks kind of like a shaman to me, except for the weapons.

It is doubtful the druid will return. His elemental tree has been moved to the wizard and the disease type skils on his shape shifter tree are on the witchdoctor. The only skill tree he would have left is a summoning tree witch is doubtful that two summoning classes will be in the game until the exp at least, just like with D2 and its exp. However I do believe their will be a Zon/Assasin type class showing a ranged type class as well as other trees.

I'm guessing the new class is gonna be a Ranger... a Amazon/Druid combo specializing in ranged weapons (bows/spears) and also in shapeshifting but not elemental or summoning(gone to the witch doctor).
The other class I could imagine being a weird combo of paladin and assassin... a demon hunter of sorts, specializing in using holy powers and martial arts to destroy demons and other unholies.

I think this is kind of amazon character, because of holding a spear, but at the same time this picture reveals us the helmet of a bear head if I'm correct, which gives us an idea of druid. So this could be an amazon having nature powers which she can use to summon forest creatures or use nature powers to destroy minions. I think that would a be a great mix of those two :? But we'll see what type of character is this in the near future :)

i hope its a new character class. something similar to the druid because the druid was awsome but i'd like to see some new classes with new powers. maybe it could be a "mayan" warrior the javeline throwers believed that if they wore the skin of a jaguar or an eagle that they could fight with the characterists of those animals. and if blizzard does their research right they can find all kinds of unique weapons like a maquahuit.also since the wizard looks asian and the witch docter is obviosly african with a distincly european barbarian, it would be nice to see american indians represented it the game.

Seriously though, the amazon was my favorite character so I really hope that some sort of really cool bow class makes a come back. :sigh: yea it does look like a druid, but i can only imagine how cool this character class would be if it was an interesting varient of the amazon, only different.

I must say that I would love to see a reapearance of the druid, well, not verbatem of course because the druid was way overpowerd, basically a one man, five wolf 5 crow one vine one spirit meteor/hurricane/vulcano army.
But I would love to see some kind of animal summoner again, even if its like a beast master/hunter type deal. They have already anounced that they would not be reusing any of the classes from D II other then the Barb. So I dont think its either of them, atleast not verbatem

I've seen this image as well. The red hair suggests its NOT a witch doctor, as I'm sure he was African in theme from day-one. No, the hair as well as the snake and wolf head dramatically suggest Celtic themes. As the Druid underwent huge revisions in D2, and was considered one of the wonkier classes if not weaker, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought him back.

i think its probably a amazon/druid class thing. the wolf head doesnt necessarily mean it has to be a druid, and niether does the spear as an amazon. it could be a "Hunter", and im pretty sure old-fashioned hunters liked to collect animal pelts from animals they hunted...
